GMPP is the Only Warranty I'll Buy!

by Arthur W.
(Pittsburgh, PA)

I have owned quite a few vehicles in my day and typically purchase an extended warranty. I've now had 3 GMPP warranties and have had to use it on 2 of those 3 vehicles. I have never had any issues whatsoever.

One of those vehicles had over $4000 in repairs to be done and GMPP never batted an eye. Pretty good deal, because I only paid roughly $1200 for the coverage.

I've also had experience with aftermarket warranty companies and it was more like a nightmare than an experience.

One company went out of business (flushed $1200 down the toilet), the other would fight to pay for anything and the other wasn't terrible, but did not cover anywhere near what GMPP would.

To anyone considering buying one, do it! You'll thank yourself for it if you ever need a big repair.

Cadillac Owner and GMPP Cancellation

by Dan
(Beaumont, Texas, USA)

Visitor review: Traded my single original owner 2002 DTS in on new 2007 DTS. When I asked about credit or refund on unused extended warranty mileage (purchased from another Cadillac dealership) I was told that the remaining balance of unused mileage stayed with the DTS that I traded in; therefore no credit or refund. End of story.

My Take: Hi Dan. It sounds to me like someone at the dealership had no idea what they were talking about. In fact, you, to this day, would still be entitled to any refund from that contract. This is assuming that you had no claims filed while you owned the vehicle.

I'm also assuming that it was definitely a GMPP extended warranty and not just a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranty.

If it was the CPO warranty, then yes, that would stay with the vehicle, but any warranty you actually paid for separately could be canceled and the unused portion would be refunded.

I'd suggest you take a look at your paperwork and/or you could even call GMPP to verify for yourself. Their customer service number is 800-631-5590. In addition, you could give me your VIN and I can look up your vehicle to see if it was a CPO vehicle.

Take care,
Justin

Chrysler Extended Warranties and GMAC???

by Brian
(San Antonio, TX)

Question: I know that GMAC is now doing the new car financing for Chrysler, but are they also doing the Chrysler extended warranties?

I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee I'd like to get a warranty for.

Thanks,
Brian

Answer: Hi Brian. Chrysler extended warranties are still available through Chrysler, but General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP) can be used to cover your Jeep as well.

I can give you a quote for the GMPP Major Guard, which is equivalent to the Chrysler Maximum Care. I'd be willing to bet however that our Never Pay Retail pricing is going to make the GMPP Major Guard coverage a much more attractive option for you.

The only requirements for non-GM vehicles is that the vehicle be within 3 model years and have less than 36,000 miles at the time of purchase.

By the way, you shouldn't have any issues using GMPP at any of the Chrysler dealers across the country or even in Canada. On top of that you can use the coverage at thousands of independent certified repair shops across the country.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
Justin

Best Warranty I've Had

by Linda S.
(Sacramento, CA)

I'm a bit of a worrier and always take the insurance option when buying a car, computer, TV, etc.

I purchased a General Motors extended warranty for a 2006 Malibu that I had (just traded) and had the coverage for just over three years. I was considering buying one of the newer models, but wasn't sure that it was the right time and decided to hold off a bit.

Well, just about a month ago, my car started making some funny noises, so I brought it to my local Chevy dealer. Long story short, it needed a new transmission. I'm pretty sure the final bill was somewhere around $3,000. Lucky me...GMPP paid all of it minus my $100 deductible.

I don't make big bucks and that $3,000 would have put me in a real bad bind, but fortunately I had coverage and only had to pay $100.

Now I found this site and am looking to purchase a GMPP for my new 2009 Malibu (great pricing by the way). I am definitely a big fan of this warranty company.

I Was Going to Buy a GMPP, But the Dealer Ticked Me Off!

by Tom W.
(New Richmond, WI)

Question: I was going to buy a GMPP for my 2008 Trail Blazer and my dealer talked me out of it and wanted to sell me a "better" (MasterTech) plan. They said it was much better, but it was also $400 more for the same length of coverage.

What gives with these guys? They ticked me off and I didn't buy any plan!

Answer: Hi Tom,

I'm not sure what the "MasterTech" plan is, but I can't see how it would be better than a GMPP. GMPP covers just about any and all mechanical or electrical failures that can happen to a vehicle.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the Finance Manager gets a rather large kick back from MasterTech, whereas GMPP does not offer any incentives to Finance Managers. That's probably why this plan was sooo much better.

GMPP is an excellent coverage and if you'd like I can give you a quote for their Major Guard plan as long as your vehicle is still covered under the 36 month / 36,000 miles factory warranty. Go to GM Extended Warranty to fill out the quote form.

Take care,
Justin
