Internet Car Scam

Scamming
Thousands Daily

Before we get to what this Internet car scam is, I'd like to start off by saying that my momma always told me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

Great words of advice, but when it comes to this scam I can't help but get all worked up.

I've changed the names of the innocent guilty parties involved and when referring to one individual in particular will refer to him as Jack O.

So What Is
This Internet Car Scam?

I call it the Jack-O car buying scam and it's a scam that began in the late 90's, about the time the Internet began to grow rapidly.

This Internet car scam centers around certain individuals with zero experience about the inner workings of a car dealership giving you the consumer car buying tips and advice.

That in itself is not a scam, but the advice and the scare tactics that these self proclaimed car buying tips "guru's" push on people, in my opinion, are.

These "guru's" lead people to believe that they have certain knowledge about the car buying process that will save consumers thousands and help them avoid car buying scams.

I'd give a link to some of these sites, but I in no way want to help spread their polluted messages.

If you do run across one of these sites please pay careful attention (actually, it will be pretty obvious) to the sometimes messy, made by a third grader, eye sore, layout of their sites.

I told you
I get all worked up...

In case you were wondering, they'll usually build massive, extremely hard for people to read, pages that search engines love.

The reasons some of these sites rank so well for the search engines are:

  • Simply because of the amount of time they have been on the Internet.
  • The massive amounts of keywords they stuff into their sites massive pages.

These sites are, quite frankly, a disaster filled with a lot of misinformation that will only complicate the car buying process.

I've listed the Internet car scam as my number one car buying scam solely because of the reach some of these sites have. One site in particular is a far bigger car buying scam than anything you could expect to find at a car dealership!

What
To Expect

If you do happen to stumble across the one site I am thinking of, built by Jack O., it will look a little like this:

Car dealers will scam you, you are going to get scammed, click here to be rescued from their scams His Affiliate Link or here His Affiliate Link or here His Affiliate Link.

Then he'll try to soften the tone with a very short note like:

I don't think all car salesman are bad, but most of them are so quick click here His Affiliate Link or they will scam you for all your money! In fact, click here His Affiliate Link, here His Affiliate Link, and here His Affiliate Link or else. Show me the (affiliate) money! Right Jack?

Interesting Read
I had some interesting comments made by a visitor, named Peter, about this page you are reading now. Apparently Peter doesn't like this page as much as I do. I thanked Peter for his comments, although I question his motives a bit. If you'd like to read his comments and my response, visit: Internet Car Scam comments.

What Does He
Really Know About Buying Cars?

So what does my good buddy Jack O. know about the car business?

From what I can tell, not a whole lot. He does seem to know how to profit with his elaborate scam of a website though.

He was employed in a completely different line of work, before he built his site, and now considers himself (this is from his website) a "self proclaimed consumer advocate."

Congratulations Jack O.! You know what? As of today I declare myself a "self proclaimed brain surgeon."

Boy that's pretty cool, from a car guy to brain surgeon just like that!

Get me a scalpel stat!

From what I see the only knowledge Mr. Jack O. has about car buying is from his own personal car buying experiences, those of his family/friends and from what he watches on the news.

Going to Jack for car buying advice is like asking a Lawyer to perform a root canal for you.

I think you'd be better off leaving that to a qualified expert...like a Dentist.

FYI, Jack also owns a
top rated bridal tips website as well.

Seriously, what kind of car buying advice is he giving you when he also claims to be an expert on bridal tips???

Let me put your mind at ease, car buying scams are nowhere near as abundant as both Mr. Jack O. and others on the web would have you believe.

Car buying is simply a process and the more educated you are about the process the greater your chances are of success.

Internet
Car Scam Summary

Car dealers have to much to lose pulling the old school car buying scams they used to.

That being said, scams are still in use today, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if as I type this someone is being deceived, lied to or scammed at a car dealership somewhere in the country.

Even if that is the case, they are still not as abundant as some would say.

Simply follow the advice on my site and you'll have so much information about the car buying process that the likelihood of you getting scammed is next to zero.
