Where to Refinance My Car Loan

by Maggie
(Bronx, New York)

Question: I'm wondering where to refinance my car loan. I purchased a new 2011 car with interest rate 7.9% thru the dealership for 72 months. My payments are $390.00 monthly and want to lower that a lot.

My credit scores are 721, 699,697. I live in New York City and have a savings account with Chase bank but haven't tried them.

If you can please tell me where to apply for good refinance in New York City or online. I don't want to have hard hits on my credit score. My first car payment is in 5 days. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer: Hi Maggie,

Definitely take a look at Money Aisle. I actually ran a reverse rate auction there using a New York zip code and found they have lenders that are offering refinance rates in the low 4's for a 700+ credit score.

Of course, this will depend on what credit bureau the lender uses to determine rates and if they use one of the other score, then your rate may a bit higher, but definitely better than where you are at now.

Chase is also another option for you to refinance your car loan, but I don't think their 72 month rates are going to be that good however.

I would think that they may come in in the low 5's. Of course, I'm simply guessing at that because credit score is not the only thing that is looked and it could be better or worse.

Money Aisle does not require that you apply to check rates, but you would need to once you found a lender that you wanted to apply to.

Outside of Money Aisle and Chase I would think that a local credit union would be a good option for you to consider, but as mentioned above that 4.39% refinance rate for 72 months through the Money Aisle lender is pretty solid and will be hard to beat!

Hope this helps you to refinance your car loan and please let me know if you have any other questions...

Take care,
Justin
