Hi Ivonne,

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like the salesman used some "bad" language regarding your situation.

In my experience DriveTime performs very thorough inspections prior to putting a vehicle up for sale and I would go out on a limb here and say that they had no idea about the transmission.

Unfortunately for you, the car you bought probably had unforeseen problems. In the Buy Here Pay Here business it is bad practice to sell cars that have known problems.

The reason behind this is that if they sell a car with known problems the company is increasing their exposure. By that I mean they are going to lose money in most cases, because 9 times out of 10 they will repossess the vehicle because the customer will stop paying.

Although repossessions are part of their business, it's not what they want to do...They lose money! Especially when they repo a broken car.

I'm sorry you had the experience that you did and I would hope the salesman would find a better way to interact with customers when their car is in the shop in the future. All cars if given enough time will break down.

Take care,
Justin

I had almost the exact experience with the Brandon Location... I bought this car and it was in the shop every two weeks for the first three months. They sent me to Brandon Auto Clinic to have it serviced.

The man there entered my mileage wrong then told me I had to pay for the work! I called the Corporate office of Drive Time to complain about the transmission...They referred me back to the Auto Clinic.. Those people insisted nothing was wrong with the transmission...

To this day the car's transmission slips or wont go AT ALL! Then it gets better, since the loan has such high interest of course, I can't trade it in because of how up side down I am..

I called my insurance agent to add GAP coverage to the car, but they can't said that Drive Time should of offered it when I was buying the piece of junk.. I called the dealership, and a man named Dave said, "They dont offer it!"

Now I have to pray everyday that some one won't hit me because I will have to pay over 7,000 for a car I wouldn't even have anymore....THAT PLACE IS GOD awful!

You got to love how they call you even before a payment is due?

I would not send my worst enemy there to buy a car even for the 200.00! They should be offering GAP coverage for a fee and have a transmission shop available to use under the warranty instead of sending you to the Auto Clinic who does not do transmission work...
