WE PURCHASED A 2004 MURANO FOR 16,000. PAID IT WITH DRIVE -WHO SUDDENLY TURNED INTO SANTANDER WITHOUT OUR KNOWING- IN 2007

WE PAID FOR 2 YEARS AT 500.00 A MONTH- I HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT - WASN'T GOING TO BE RETURNING BACK TO WORK ANYTIME SOON- STARTED CALLING DRIVE TO REFINANCE FOR A LOWER PAYMENT- NEVER RESPONDED
CALLED TO GET A PAYOFF- AND THE NASTY REP ON THE OTHER END SAID "WHAT FOR" AND CONTINUED TO SAY IF WE EVEN SHOWED UP AT A DEARLERSHIP- THEY WOULD HAVE A RED FLAG PUT ON US AND PICK UP OUR CAR.

NOW, THIS WAS BEFORE WE STARTED TO HAVE FINANCIAL PROBLEMS-- SO AFTER WE HAD WRITTEN TO THEM FOR 5 MONTHS APRIL OF 2009 THRU NOVEMBER 2009 BEGGING THEM TO WORK WITH US ON A LOWER PAYMENT THEY IGNORED ALL LETTERS AND PHONE CALLS, SO WE HAD AN ATTORNEY CALL AND WRITE THEM. TOTALLY IGNORED THEM.cOME JANUARY OF 2010 WE COULDN'T PAY.
THEY THEN STARTED SENDING REPOS OUT FOR US- WHO TELL YOU THERE ARE "OFFICERS" AND "DETECTIVES" OR "INVESTIGATORS" SCARING MY CHILDREN WHEN I WOULD BE AT DOCTORS OFFICES OR PT. THESE PEOPLE ARE ARROGRANT, AND VICIOUS - THEY KNOW THEY HAVE THE MARKET CORNERED- THEY WAIT UNITL YOU HAVE 2 YEARS OR MORE PAID INTO THE LOAN- THEN THEY START COMING AFTER YOU. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN- I DUMPED THE CAR AWAY FROM HOUSE- AND NOW PLAN TO SUE THEM.
WHEN YOU HAVE NERVE DAMAGE, KNEE SURGERY, SPINAL CORD SURGERY BACKING UP YOUR HARDSHIP- YOU THINK THEY WOULD HAVE LOWERED THE PAYMENT FOR US. OH- AND THEY WANT 21,000. NOW FOR PAYOFF.

You signed a retail installment contract. You agreed to a certain payment for a certain length of time. Your lender doesn't have the ability to change your payment. If you want a lower payment, you would need to REFINANCE the car with another lender. But given your poor payment performance, I doubt you will find anyone to do so. Sorry about your accident, but you got yourself into this mess, and you should take repsonsibility for it! Stop blaming the only bank that was NICE enough to lend you money to drive a nice car in the first place! Yes, their interest rate is high, yes, their fees are high. But it's because they have to waste their time with people like you who think they are so smart, but fail to make their payments.

@ Annonomous-Stop Whinning,

Nice enough to give you a loan?? Are you serious? These people are anything but nice, they charge ridiculous interest, have horrible customer service, change rules constantly, make up fee's, charge late fee's when payments are made on time because they didn't process it in time, send unprofessional repo men who constantly 'Breach the Peace. How is this nice? They are out to make a buck off people who in most cases have no choice but to go with this lender if they buy a car. The whole idea of if you signed the contract then you are responsible has lost some of it merit due to the unforeseen economic disaster we are in. Obviously most people could afford the payments when they bought the car, but after paying up to 80% of the loan off and then losing your job is hardly irresponsible. You people are such losers who live off other peoples downfalls. Vultures! Harassment is a crime and people need to step up and know their rights.

Really

All of you people are not listening. This person is saying that they MADE their payments and now that they only have one payment left and now the company is saying they owe all kind of other fees.

If you did some research before you talk about how GOOD a company was for giving this person a loan then you wouldn't sound so ignorant.

The bottom line is that just because someone has had a rough time and need help getting back on their feet they are not subject to being treated badly or taken advantage of in such a malicious way.

Stop being ignorant and become educated. To the writer, I hope that your case will come across some person's ears that will be able to do something about it. Keep fighting.

As I'm reading this I think to myself how much in late fees do you have? How many times where you late?

In case you didn't know Santander didn't start doing any kind of refinance until the early part of 2011. Your payments are what they are and they will never change.

If you mail your payment then yes you take the risk of not getting it there in time and processed.

Yes, if you do pay by phone or web there is a charge and yes this sucks. From what I know they use the services provided by Western Union to process all phone payments and of course they charge Santander, so of course the fee gets passed down to the customer.

Look if you don't want to complain make your payments on or before the due date and have a little money put aside just in case you do go through hardship.

If your payment is on time then you will not get phone calls, letters or have repo men looking for you.... Remember it ain't no joke if you don't pay that note....

A Little Sobering Reality for YE

Guess what Mr. Or Mrs. sanctimonious, just make your payments on time. I mailed in a check with plenty of time, and for the current and next months payments.

I have in front of me a print out from my bank that the check was processed and cashed by Santander. They claim they never received the payment.

When I told them I have proof from my bank, they instructed me to fax it in, which I promptly did. They called again 5 days later. I tell them I faxed the proof. they say they didn't get the fax, even though I have a transmission verification report from the fax machine that it went through fine.

The CSR says fax it again. I say I will, but want to be on the phone with someone who can confirm receipt. She has the gall to say that there are no phones where the fax machine is. Then she tells me I can email it. But, I don't own a scanner and decide to fax it again.

I faxed it again and called a supervisor immediately after. He says to give it a few days. I ask about the email address the last CSR mentioned, and he says that doesn't exist.

I ask for and receive a direct number to call him back. I call the number today and get voice mail with a guys name that is not the supervisor I talked to, and doesn't mention Santander.

I go onto the web site and their live chat. That rep says it shows the fax is received, but it still requires a copy of the back of the check.

My bank knew immediately that I need front and back copies, and put them on the same page when they printed it for me.

Do you see the constant BS from this company? I can't figure out if their criminal or mind boggling incompetent!!

Making payments on time with these a**holes doesn't insure not having major problems with them.

I'm almost 30 days past my due date according to them,, and I'm going to get screwed because of their mistakes.

I HATE THIS COMPANY, and now fear for all kinds of trouble paying off the loan and getting my title.

Don't trust this company

I have had 3 other loans from Sandtander, in the past, with my trade in's have had been upside down.

I went to Carmax to purchase a truck and my trade in was $2000 upside down and Santander told me they couldn't finance me due to being upside down and to go through Drive Financial.

I am paying 25% intrest on my loan. I have paid over $8,000 in car payments since February, and my principle has only dropped $1,100.

I called them to refinance and was told they don't refinance that I would have to go thru RoadLoans. They told me to go thru Santander.

I called Drive Financial, I asked where are they located and the first lady told me they where in the Bahama's and the second lady I talked to said she was in Granada. I have talked to several car dealers and was told that Drive Financial puts their funds offshore.

I am just going to take the hit and give the truck back after I have seen what has happen to me. When I talked to Drive Financial about them taking the truck back, they weren't going to take it back and they would just let the next couple of payments be put back on the end of the loan.

I was very stern with giving it back and where can I give it back and was told they weren't taking it back, but they would work with me on extending my loan. That's because they don't want to miss out on all of the interest they are getting. Do your best and try not to go with them. Don't make the mistake like I did.
